The wizarding world of Wharton

FRIDAY, Oct. 27 — Witches, wizards and muggles alike can experience the music of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” live at the Wharton Center Nov. 17 and 18.

The Lansing Symphony Orchestra will perform prolific film music composer John Williams’ score while the movie plays in high-definition on a 40-foot projection screen. The shows are part of the “Harry Potter” Film Concert Series, a global music tour celebrating the film franchise, which is based on the beloved book series by J.K. Rowling.

The concert series, founded by California-based film concert production company CineConcerts and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, a division of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Brands and Experiences, began in 2016 and has more than 2,973 concerts scheduled in more than 48 countries through 2025.

"The ‘Harry Potter’ film series is a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans around the world,” said Justin Freer, president of CineConcerts and producer/conductor of the concert series. “It is with great pleasure that we bring fans for the first time ever an opportunity to experience the award-winning music scores played live by a symphony orchestra, all while the beloved film is simultaneously projected onto the big screen.
