The Artist’s Umbrella hosting virtual Q&As

Posted

THURSDAY, Aug. 13 — The Artist’s Umbrella started in 2019 as a monthly, vaudevillian variety show showcasing local talent. These shows included dancers, poets, musicians and experimental artists. But holding its usual monthly gig at The Loft isn’t feasible due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Like many performers and organizations, The Artist’s Umbrella had to find a creative solution to this problem.

Every second and last Thursday of the month, a local artist is going to take over The Artist’s Umbrella’s Facebook page. This offers artists a chance to display their talents, talk about their craft and perform live for fans on Facebook Live. Attendees to the event are invited to comment and ask the artist any questions they would like to.

Tonight on The Artist’s Umbrella Facebook page, you can catch Lansing poet, spoken word artist and lyricist Morgan Madden. He released his first album, Qualifiers, in 2018 and has worked with local bands like The Devil’s Cut.

You can find out more about The Artist’s Umbrella, and keep tabs on upcoming Q&A sessions, on its Facebook page.
