Slotkin endorses Biden as Michigan primary approaches

Posted

THURSDAY, March 5 — U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin. D-Holly, whose district includes all of Ingham County, endorsed former vice president Joe Biden today.

“I hear from my constituents every day that they want an end to the all-or-nothing politics that have so polarized our country,” Slotkin said in a prepared statement.

“All of nothing doesn’t get us lower drug costs or more affordable healthcare. It doesn’t raise water quality standards. It doesn’t protect our country from national security threats that endanger every American, regardless of party.

“In Michigan,” she added, “we have a rich tradition of hard work, decency and passionate pragmatism. That is what is expected of us in our lives, and that what I believe we need from our elected leaders.

“That is why I support Joe Biden,” said Slotkin, who said she cast an absentee ballot today for him.

Last year Biden campaigned for Slotkin, including at a rally at Lansing Community College. The freshman congresswoman represents a district long represented by Republicans that is a high priority nationally for Democrats to keep.

Biden will face off against U.S. Bernie Sanders and U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard in next Tuesday’s Michigan primary election.
