This business — which has a sister store at 3826 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard — has a spacious lobby and an attractive smaller office where medicines are displayed in a large glass case. After your credentials are checked, patients can survey the medicinal offerings with the assistance of knowledgeable, friendly staff.
I visited on a recent Saturday afternoon, just after lunch. The dispensary has an optional $25 membership, which admits members to the club’s Saturday farmers markets at this location. Memberships are also good for a number of special discounts. New members get a top-shelf gram when joining, which pretty much covers the membership fee.
This shop has a wide variety of strains that range from $10 a gram for lower quality marijuana to $25 a gram for purple haze, which I am led to believe is quite special. The co-owners were quite engaging and indicated a fair number of the cannabis strains they dispense are grown by members. They had a limited assortment of medibles and other products on Saturday, but they are still settling into this secondary location.
I selected a Rice Krispies treat for $5 and the “Wembley” strain, a hybrid grown by a dispensary member, for $15. I was cautioned against consuming the entire treat in one sitting, so I initially ate about one-third of the treat and finished it several hours later. The treat offered a mild head buzz for several hours, then much more intense sensations of stimulation, well-being and relaxation for several more hours. It did not have an overpowering cannabis flavor or aroma.
I smoked and vaporized the Wembley, which is a cross between AK-47 and Bubble Gum. These two cannabis strains work well together to produce a hoppy aroma and a light, fresh flavor. The effects included full body relaxation without grogginess or fatigue.
