It is not prudent nor safe to take any allegation that is brought up online as true, unless it can be substantiated with real-world facts. There are just too many people who will make a false claim (otherwise known as a lie) just for internet attention. That said, it is good to hear that Vail and her staff are not bowing to the mob in making their decision but will be making their decisions based on independent investigation and facts. The seven hundred people who have signed this petition should definitely exercise their right of protecting themselves by staying away from Harpers if they choose. However to shut the bar down because of internet hype, unsubstantiated allegation and mob pressure would be wrong. The rest of East Lansing should have the right to choose to patronize this business.
