Lansing Shuffle gives back for Thanksgiving

Posted

FRIDAY, Nov. 17 — Lansing Shuffle will host a free Thanksgiving meal 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday for Lansing-area individuals and families in need.

Detroit Shipping Co., a food hall and beer garden in Detroit created by the developers behind Lansing Shuffle, has been hosting its Full Plates, Full Hearts Thanksgiving meals annually since it opened in 2018. This year’s events, taking place at both the Shipping Co. and Lasing Shuffle, are a collaboration between the food halls, the Detroit Restaurant & Lodging Association and the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association.

The chefs of Lansing Shuffle’s five restaurants — Browndog at the Shuffle, Irie Smoke Shack, Kin Thai, Osteria Vegana and Yeti Kitchen — will prepare the meals, which will include a roasted chicken thigh sandwich, mashed sweet potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, cranberry chutney and apple crisp. They will be served on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

In addition, volunteers will deliver individually boxed meals to local nonprofits, including the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, the Eastside Community Action Center, Holy Cross Services’ New Hope Community Center and South Lansing Ministries.

Those interested in volunteering for the event can submit contact information to Lansing Shuffle. Monetary donations are also being accepted.

Other Greater Lansing businesses and organizations offering free Thanksgiving meals include the Salvation Army, Blondie’s Barn, Cristo Rey Community Center, St. Gerard Catholic Church, the City Rescue Mission and the Clinton Community Thanksgiving Celebration and Dinner.
