Science in the Gardens

Posted

The Michigan State University Science Festival will cap a month of STEAM-centric fun with a Science in the Gardens event noon to 4 p.m. Saturday (April 26) at the school’s Horticulture Gardens, featuring hands-on activities and demonstrations allowing curious attendees of all ages to explore the natural world.

At the indoor portion of the 4-H Children’s Garden, guests can explore the life cycle of butterflies, look at them up close under microscopes and watch them flutter around in the garden’s flight house. At the bioretention research facility, attendees can learn about rain gardens and their use in preventing flooding through crafts, a scavenger hunt and other activities. From 1 to 3 p.m. at the conservatory, local poets will read some of their work in a program titled “Infinity in the Palm of Your Hand: How Writers See the Universe,” which is recommended for high-school-age patrons and above.

As with all Science Festival events, admission is free. For more information, visit sciencefestival.msu.edu.
