Lansing Bike and Seek 2020 takes bikers on citywide scavenger hunt

Posted

MONDAY, July 27 — Turn your regular bike ride into a citywide clue-hunting adventure at the 5th annual Lansing Bike and Seek. Participants mount their bikes and take on the task of solving eight clues peppered across the city of Lansing.

Unlike previous Bike and Seeks, there are no paper clues. This year’s clues are entirely online and are accessible via smartphones. You can either do the Bike and Seek solo or with a team.

Once registered at bikeandseek.org/events participants will have access to the Bike and Seek email address and phone number, which can be consulted if you need help. This year’s Bike and Seek starts in the REO Town parking lot just south of Riverview Church. When riding, remember to keep social distancing in mind.

How to participate:

Before the Bike and Seek:

  1. Register at bikeandseek.org/accounts/signup
  2. Create a team at https://bikeandseek.org/teams (add up to three teammates)
  3. Practice scanning quick response (QR) code at bikeandseek.org/events/test_scan

During the Bike and Seek:

  1. Scan the START QR code at the start location. This starts a timer and shows your team the first clue on your dashboard. Step away from the clue if you see other teams to maintain social distancing.
  2. Solve the clue by typing in or selecting the correct answer on the clue's webpage, this will reveal the next clue location.
  3. Repeat for all clues — after 10 minutes of first scanning each clue an option for a hint will become available.
  4. Optionally solve the token clues, head to the revealed location and scan the code at the destinations (no actual tokens need to be collected).
  5. Scan the END QR code at the end location. This stops your timer and publishes your time (and the amount of hints used) for all to see on the results page.
  6. Head to Blue Owl Coffee for 10% off of your order. Just mention you participated in the Bike and Seek.
