COVID-19 closes Lansing Brewing Co.

FRIDAY, June 19 — Lansing Brewing Co. will close for deep cleaning today and plans to reopen tomorrow after a person who tested positive for COVID-19 recently entered the building. 

The bar and restaurant, which recently reopened for dine-in and patio service, posted the closure notice to Facebook this afternoon and has since announced plans to reopen tomorrow. 

“We were made aware that an individual who entered our building has tested positive for COVID-19,” according to the Facebook post. “Out of an abundance of caution and for the well being of you and our team, we immediately made the decision to close, and bring in an outside professional company to disinfect and sanitize the entire building from top to bottom today. 

Hundreds of customers crowded the newly reopened bar and patio yesterday, which has only recently again allowed dine-in service to resume under a series of precautionary guidelines. 

Among them: Guests must wear masks before entering the building and keep their faces covered unless seated. Most tables are spaced at least six feet apart and guests — limited to groups of 10 or less — must leave after 90 minutes. Bar stools have also been removed. 

Games of cornhole were being played outside and a full dinner menu was available to order yesterday evening. Masks were available at the hostess stand. Most people kept their distance. Still, out of an abundance of caution, the restaurant will remain closed today for deep cleaning. 

“We have not and do not take COVID-19 lightly,” according to a Facebook post from the company. “And while we will miss sharing our patio with all of you today, we do not question the importance of doing our best to provide a safe atmosphere where many more beers can be shared. We will reopen once we are able to ensure it is safe. Stay tuned. Thank you, Lansing.” 

LBC is among several bars and restaurants to have reopened for dine-in services in Greater Lansing since Gov. Gretchen Whitmer lifted restrictions earlier this month that had previously kept them closed to the public. Many local restaurants have expanded outdoor seating areas.
