Capital City Film Festival postponed due to COVID-19 concerns

FRIDAY, March 13 — Capital City Film Festival announced in a press release today that — in response to COVID-19 advisories from city and state officials — it is postponed until summer. According to the press release, a retooled event dubbed "Capital City Film Festival 9.5" will be held this summer, while the "real" 10th anniversary celebration will be held in April 2021.

The press release includes the following statement:

“To the CCFF Family:

After extensive consideration, it is with a heavy heart that we share our decision to postpone the 2020 Capital City Film Festival planned for April 9-18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are sad you won’t get to experience the outstanding full lineup we had nearly ready to announce, the safety of our extended community is at the forefront of our values.

Don’t despair too hard, though: Our team is already working on CCFF 9.5 — a summertime retooling of our 2020 festival content.

REAL TALK: These are weird times. Our thought earlier this week was to scale back some of our larger events, implement precautionary measures at venues and place seats farther apart. The more we processed it, though, we realized that not only would this scenario severely impact the festival-going experience, but we couldn’t in good conscience expect our guests from around the world to make travel plans in these uncertain times. It simply didn’t feel right to continue.

We hope to see you at CCFF 9.5 this summer, and we look forward to celebrating the (real) 10th annual CCFF with you in April 2021. We'll share more details on both as soon as they are confirmed. In the meantime, we hope you stay safe, cozy up at home, and find some good movies to watch. We are grateful for your understanding as we navigate this situation.”
