Salsa parlor house comedy show

Posted

THURSDAY, Aug. 29 — Salsa Parlor is a successful monthly house comedy show that’s attracted regional and national comics running out of East Lansing for the past five years. Managed by Louis Michael, the Salsa Parlor is a home living room converted to a showroom stage. This Saturday’s lineup has comics coming from Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Denver. Despite Salsa Parlor’s aura as an underground club, Michael wants everyone to come to the show.

“I am screaming about it and posting about it all the time. People come over and say, ‘It is so cool and secret to have a comedy show in a house.’ I have to tell them they aren’t special and we want to tell everybody. I don’t think I’m doing a grandiose task. I am just an idiot that thought to have fun in my house,” Michael said.

Most Lansing bars looking to feature comedy have comedy-themed nights, but Lansing’s last dedicated comedy club, Connxtions, closed in 2014 after 30 years of operations
