Please join us for our 4th annual Run to Remember to be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in Lansing's Old Town. This 5K run/walk event is to remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including 19 with Michigan connections, and to honor and celebrate the brave men and women across Michigan who protect and serve our communities and nation on a daily basis. The event begins at 8:46 a.m. with a remembrance ceremony marking the time of the first attack on the World Trade Center. The 5K will then start at 9:11 a.m. Funds raised by this event will support the programming of the Michigan Remembers 9-11 Fund. This includes sending two Michigan first responders to New York City for an all-expense paid weekend to compete in the Stephen Siller Foundation National Tunnel to Towers 5K run/walk held at the end of September. Other programming that the proceeds will benefit include a 9/11 reflection essay contest for high school students, other first responder recognition programs, and 9/11/01 victim remembrance efforts.nnRegistration for the 5K is $30.00 per person while children 13 and under are free. There is a $5.00 discount provided to active duty and veteran military and public safety (fire, police, and EMS) personnel by using the coupon code "hero" on the registration page. This is a family (and pet) friendly event and all are encouraged to attend.
