The "Spirit of Michigan" brings California to the north Michigan Festival April 25 and 26 to showcase local foods, brews, spirits, art, music and more! East Lansing, MI. The 1st annual Spirit of Michigan Festival is proud to present an array of Michigan-based microbrews, liquors, ciders and wines along with food tastings from local restaurants. This event is open to the public on April 25 from 3 p.m.-midnight a.m. and April 26 from 1 p.m.-midnight at the Funtyme Golf Dome in Okemos (3384 James Phillips Drive). For a $20 admission charge, guests will receive a sampling glass and $5 in beverage vouchers. Tickets can be purchased for food and additional drink samples, while guests 21 and older sip, bite, mingle and enjoy music and art on display - all in the "Spirit of Michigan!" Guests can look forward to sampling beers from: Arbor, Arcadia, Bell's Brewery, Dark Horse, Dragon Mend, Founders, Latitude 42, New Holland, Oddside, Saugatuck, Shorts, Tape, Tapistry Brewing and more. Burgdorf Winery will be bringing the local Michigan wine samples, while Valentine's represents vodka and Vandermill offers up ciders. Food vendors offering tastes of their signature dishes include: Backyard BBQ, Biggby, Breadsmith, Grand Traverse Pie Company, Izzy's Kabobs and Pickle Man. The Festival will also host a bartending and waitressing championship to be judged over the course of the event. A portion of the proceeds go to The Art for Charlie Foundation, an East Lansing based organization promoting pediatric hospice care and support for families bereaved by the loss of a child. Founded on the basis of helping others through art, Art for Charlie presents the art component, with several winning interpretations of the "Spirit of Michigan" on display for enjoyment and purchase. The Art for Charlie Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of seriously ill children and to supporting families coping with the tragic loss of a child. This Foundation is named in honor of Charlie Waller, a fabulous five year old who lost his battle to terminal cancer December 5, 2013.
