Earth Day Extravaganza

Fenner Nature Center will proudly be hosting their third Earth Day Extravaganza in collaboration with the Michigan State University Fisheries and Wildlife Club! The variety of activities will include:%u2022 bird banding %u2022 reptile and amphibian surveys %u2022 pond-dipping for tiny aquatic creatures %u2022 Wildflower identification hikes, and more. Visitors can also assist with habitat restoration efforts throughout the day. Activities will include: Trail maintenance %u2022 Working in the newly restored Butterfly Garden %u2022 Removal of invasive plant species (including the 2014 Garlic Mustard Pull Challenge) %u2022 Prairie restoration and more. Earth Day Extravaganza is a free event for the community. Event Schedule is: Netting: 7-9 a.m.; Guided Bird Walk: 9-10 a.m.; Wildflower Identification Hike; 9:30-10:30 a.m. & 1:30%u20132:30 p.m.; Small Mammal Trapping: 9:30%u201310:30 a.m.; Pond Dipping: 11 a.m.%u20133 p.m.; Herpetological Survey: 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. The event will be held at Fenner Nature Center which is located at 2020 E. Mt. Hope Ave. in Lansing (At the corner of Mt. Hope Ave. and Aurelius Rd.). Ride the River Trail to Fenner to help reduce the carbon footprint.
