Tom Stoppard's hilarious Tony Award-winning play centers on the misadventures of two minor characters from \"Hamlet.\" Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is structured as the inverse of \"Hamlet\": the title characters are the leads, and Hamlet himself has only a small part. The duo appears in this comedy primarily when they are off-stage in Shakespeare's play. The play focuses on free will versus determinism, the search for value, and the impassivity of certainty framed by the comedy, cleverness, and ambiguities inherent in language. This is signature Stoppard, author of The Real Thing and The Coast of Utopia as well as the film Shakespeare in Love.
