The road to Broad just got a little longer: Michigan State University President Lou Anna K. Simon announced this morning that the planned April 21 dedication date for the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum has been scrapped. A fall date is being scheduled.

Monday, Jan. 23 — The announcement of the proposed Kewadin Lansing casino at the Lansing Center today featured a 90-second video of what the casino would look like from an aerial perspective.

Tuesday, Feb. 7 — A Wednesday evening event with 2011 Bellwether Prize for Fiction winner Naomi Benaron at the Eastwood location of Schuler Books & Music has been canceled, due to illness.

Friday, Feb. 17 — City Pulse has posted an online petition seeking to change Meijer’s decision to ban all free publications in its stores beginning March 1.

Monday, Feb. 27 — City Pulse has posted a new petition thanking Meijer for postponing its termination of free publications till March 15 and asking the grocery store chain to repeal its decision altogether. Thursday, Feb. 23 — You’ll see it all at this weekend’s Happendance concerts. Artistic director Missy Lilje plans to leave everything out in the open — including the backstage area — for “Happendance … Exposed,” in order to put her dancers front and center.

Meijer will delay removing its free publication racks from the Lansing market until March 15, sources have told City Pulse. The racks were scheduled to be removed next week from all 199 Meijer stores in five states. But Dominion Distribution, which owns the racks and rents space in Meijer stores, received word from Meijer on Wednesday to delay picking them up in the Lansing and Detroit areas, the sources said.

THURSDAY, March 1 — The Ingham County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution calling on Meijer to reconsider its decision to eliminate free publications in its stores in the Lansing area.
