Q: For years, a group of us girls has gone camping, to dinner, to concerts, etc. Our husbands do their own thing together while we hang out. When they bring a new guy into their circle, they seem to think we should automatically accept his female partner. We normally do because we're nice like that. The problem is, there's a gal who invites herself to everything she catches wind of from her husband. She consistently creates incredible upheaval, agitation and hurt feelings with her callous remarks and abrasive personality.

Q: What is an appropriate amount of togetherness time for a couple? My 9-year-old son spends half the week with me, plus every other weekend. My girlfriend of a year wasn’t happy with only the other half of my time, so she started joining me and my son. She and I are now together 5 1/2 days a week, 3 1/2 of which are also with my son. I’m never alone; I have no time to go grocery shopping, etc.; and no one’s happy.

Q: I'm in love, and I just said yes to marrying the man of my dreams. We've only known each other for two months, but we're in the Peace Corps. You really see the core of a person when conditions are not so comfy. We're planning on traveling home to get married on our next monthly break. We get two days off.

Q: My boyfriend of two years is best friends with his ex. During their 14-year relationship, he says they had a codependency, becoming each other's social world. They were still roommates when we started dating, and she refused to even let me into their house. He says he'd like us to become casual friends and includes us both in group events like a recent hike. On it, I tried to be friendly, but she pretty much ignored me. Afterward, I told him it was awkward spending the day with someone who has issues with me.

Q: I've been separated from my wife for three years, but I find myself craving her. I say "crave" because I don't think I ever really loved her. We only got together 15 years ago because she asked me out.

Q: My girlfriend of eight months has ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder). She was diagnosed about 10 years ago, in her early 20s.

Q: I met a woman, and we hit it off like wildfire. It seemed everything she said and did was perfect. In six months, we were engaged. She and her four kids moved in with me and my two kids. Shortly afterward, it turned sour.

Q: For nine months, I've been having fun seeing a nice woman a few times a week. We're both 50ish. I told her I didn't want a serious relationship. She went along with this but now clearly wants more. She has a picture of me at her desk.

Q: If your wife says another man's name while making love, what does that mean? It was her ex's name — my stepson's dad. She apologized, saying it was only because she remembered needing to call him about problems their son's having at school.

Q: I broke up with my guy a while ago, which was the right thing to do. But, I’ve found myself hooking up with guys for no reason other than getting caught in a provocative moment. Of course, as you’ve often written, men and women are very different when it comes to casual sex, and what’s casual for men ends up feeling not so casual for a lot of women. Including me. So, I have to wonder, knowing what I know, why I keep going for pleasure and excitement in the moment when I know I will feel empty afterward.
