Fitness fundraiser to benefit domestic violence and honor local victim

Thursday, Feb. 20 — In December, Lansing blogger Christine Keith and her 14-year-old son were shot and killed by her estranged husband before he turned the gun on himself. Two-and-half months later, some of Keith’s friends are using that tragedy to heighten domestic violence awareness and raise funds for Keith’s family.

Lansing Relay for Life chapter hosts kick-off event for June fundraiser

Friday, Feb. 14 — The American Cancer Society will host its kickoff event for the Relay for Life of Lansing on Wednesday at Midtown Beer Co. in downtown Lansing. The relay will take place June 27-28 at the Cooley Law School Stadium, 505 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. Kristen Adams, Relay for Life spokeswoman, said that in the past the group has hosted its event at smaller venues, and this move to the stadium represents a big move forward for Relay for Life.
