Photo enthusiasts have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in photography at the Mid Michigan Photography Club’s 3rd Annual Free Photography Open House, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Lansing.

Thursday, Jan. 12 — The Michigan State University College of Music takes part in a campus-wide celebration commemorating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with “Jazz: Spirituals, Prayer and Protest,” two free concerts featuring MSU’s Jazz Orchestras, under the direction of Rodney T. Whitaker.

Thursday, Jan. 12 — Lansing mayor Virg Bernero insists the inaugural Lansing Marathon, scheduled for April 22, will put Lansing “on the map in terms of health and economic development.”

Wednesday, Jan. 25 — P.D Eastman’s classic tale of one baby bird’s desperate search for her mother is brought to life in the original musical “Are You My Mother?,” as part of the Wharton Center’s Act One Family Series.

Is love enough? That's the question posed by Fiona Evans' "Scarborough," produced by the Michigan State University Department of Theater, in collaboration with Touch Your Soul Productions. The drama will be performed Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Studio 49 in the MSU Auditorium.

Wednesday, Feb. 29 — Alison Gass, curator of contemporary art at Michigan State University's Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, hosts an evening of art and conversation tonight, beginning at 6:30 in Room 118 of the Psychology Building.

One of Malott’s main objectives in opening Zeppelin’s Music Hall was to give local teenagers a place to experience the Lansing music scene in a secure environment. It is the only venue in Lansing that gives teen bands an opportunity to perform for a live audience. Because it is usually an all-ages club (unless posted otherwise), Zeppelin’s does not serve alcohol.

The comedian plays Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Connxtions Comedy Club. She is best known for her role as a recurring panelist on E!’s hit show “Chelsea Lately” and appearances on truTV’s “The Smoking Gun Presents: The World’s Dumbest.” She is often referred to as “America’s Sister” because of her ability to connect with a wide range of audiences.

Despite being a favorite among Old Town residents, Greenfield Collection closed for business in August 2011 so that Polston, along with his partners Mike Polston and Ron Cosson, could pursue other business ventures.

In a feature last month in Billboard Magazine, Dean announced he is launching a concert series that will spare him a lot of travel time. “Live From Our Living Room” will be set up for fans at the Dean family farm in Center Hill Lake, Tenn.
