A case involving a 2008 protest by ‘radical queer’ activists at a Delta Township church comes to an end

The agreement also blocks the 13 protesters from conducting similar demonstrations at any other church. One of the defendants said the agreement is “not terrible” and that he’s “feeling OK” about it because of the relatively inexpensive damages and the agreement’s First Amendment protections.

On June 21, Bob Dickey, Gannett’s U.S. Community Publishing division president, sent out a memo to employees that the U.S. publishing division would be shrinking by about 700 employees, or roughly 2 percent of Gannett’s work force. The decision was all economics.

Cannabis or custody?

A medical marijuana patient in Lansing is sentenced to jail after failing to comply with a court order to not use marijuana as he seeks to maintain custody of his daughter

In a case that could have implications for medical marijuana patients who are parents, a Lansing man was sentenced Tuesday to three days in county jail because he refuses to stop using medical marijuana and may lose custody of his child because of it.

The Lansing City Council has legislated medical marijuana dispensaries off of Michigan Avenue

Michigan Avenue will be off limits to medical marijuana dispensaries in a year, including the 11 that operate there now.That’s because of buffering requirements adopted in the city’s new medical marijuana ordinance that requires them to be 1,000 feet from each other, schools, playgrounds, churches, licensed child care facilities and substance abuse treatment centers.

In 2002, Lansing and Boise, Idaho, were guinea pig markets for media giant Gannett’s plans to launch weekly tabloids ' which the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies dubbed “faux alt-weekly” publications ' that targeted a young and hip news consumer.
