Safe Harbor, which opened in early July after taking over the lease of Capitol City Compassion Club, occupies a large, open storefront that has a community-centered vibe. The co-owners ' one of whom is Mike Malott, author of the “Michigan Medical Marijuana Handbook” ' were overseeing the dispensary when I visited on a recent Wednesday evening.

Washington, 55, is an Eastern High School graduate who took classes at Lansing Community College, which she decided to cut short so she could devote more time to her family. She is a full-time grievance and litigation specialist at the state Department of Corrections and also works part time as a nursing assistant at the Pines Health Care Center.

After ringing a doorbell for entry, KGB has a small waiting room where your credentials are checked. I had visited KGB several times before doing this review, and the staff is helpful and friendly in letting you know if something new has just come in that’s a must-try.

South Lansing’s Tri-Castle Cannabuzz is located on the west side of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard just north of Miller Road and, based on my personal experience, is easily overlooked. After several minutes touring this section of MLK, I was able to find this dispensary housed in a simple, unassuming single-story building.

But with Friday’s expiration of the moratorium looming, the Council desperately pushed through an ordinance that will no doubt result in a welldeserved lawsuit against it.
