- The folks at 414 Entertainment and promotions company JDLive announced today that they are teaming up to throw a big party and outdoor concert in downtown Lansing headlined by major-label, melodic-rock upstarts My Favorite Highway and The Elms. The party, dubbed Riverfest, is from 3 p.m. to midnight on the river banks near Impression 5 Museum on Saturday, Sept. 19. Also playing are local favorites The Hard Lessons, a power-pop trio that first took root at Michigan State University in the early 00s before transplanting to Detroit. Youve probably heard the trios tunes all over the Impact and seen husband and wife front-couple Augie and Korin Visocchis mugs all over the music pages of free rags around the state of Michigan. Also on the bill are Detroits Souldub (rap-metal-reggae) and The Dirty Americans (rock n roll) and Lansings PHILTHY (positive hip-hop), Narc Out the Reds (indie-rock) and Res Publica (nu-reggae). The event, which starts with an MSU vs. Notre Dame tailgate session at 3 p.m., will also feature a food court, open air bar, skateboarding and break dancing demos and an after party at Harem Urban Lounge. Advance tickets are $10 and available at Tanzmania Tanning in Frandor, Music Manor, The Exchange and at www.lansingriverfest.com.
