Our first News Haikus entry

In Section: News Haikus Posted By: sara2

As the name of this Weblog implies, entries with the heading 'News Haikus' will consist of observations on the news written in the haiku form. For our purpose, the use of the term 'haiku' will imply the three-line, five/seven/five syllabic pattern common to this form of Japanese poem. They will most likely often lack seasonal references and other haiku criteria.

This idea was no-doubt inspired by/stolen from a Washington musician who goes by the moniker Edie Sedgwick. If this entertains you, you may also wish to read Edie's haiku musings on celebrities available here: www.ediesedgwick.biz.

Most weeks we will add one or two new haikus as they come to us, but this week, we have a surplus, so we're getting this started with a haiku-blowout of four haikus.

And now the haikus:

"Charles Ford"
I hope this guy wins
So we stop hearing about
Bernero and Wood

"Barry Schiffer"
Dude, if you want to
Raise a ruckus at Council
Leave your pot at home

"Virg the Mayor"
Ranting and raving
Lansing into the spotlight
Look out, Joe Plumber

"Virg the Mayor II: A paraphrase from Fox News"
"We're Americans -
We deserve to make more than
Some third-world peasants"
