Lansing native/filmmaker Valdez returns to Michigan

In Section: A&E blog Posted By: JamesSanford
Lansing native and documentary filmmaker Rudy Valdez is coming back to Michigan to shoot a profile of the "clean energy" economy. The film will focus on the potential job market and the economic impact of the new industry. Valdez plans to shoot in Detroit, Lansing and west Michigan within the next week. Valdez attended Lansing Community College and Michigan State University prior to relocating to New York City in 2003. He was a cameraman and sound mixer for the Sundance Channel's "Brick City" series, which profiled the ups and downs of Newark, N.J. “Film can be a powerful way to capture how clean energy is helping put Michigan back to work and bringing new hope to communities across the state,” Valdez said in a press release. “I know many people who have been affected by the tough times in Michigan. Clean energy is one way to jumpstart Michigan’s economy, and I hope this documentary can help tell the stories of ordinary people who stand to benefit from clean energy jobs. “My goal is to show that clean energy can bring opportunity to Michigan.”
