Social media storm headed Rick Sanchez' way

In Section: News blog Posted By: Neal
- Local Twitter and Facebook-o-philes are getting their Blackberry thumbs and keyboard fingers ready to assault CNN’s Rick Sanchez on his Friday show in the name of promoting the Lansing area for Google’s high-speed broadband system.

“We are going to hijack his show. This is your call to action,” says the Facebook page.

The “Twitter Storm/Facebook Rick Sanchez About GL4G” group was created Wednesday and has invited thousands to flood Sanchez’ show with posts. The online event will take place Friday between 3 and 5 p.m.

Lansing At-Large Councilwoman Kathie Dunbar leading the Greater Lansing for Google charge, which is aiming to land the area as a test side for the company’s broadband infrastructure. The Google broadband is supposedly 100 times faster than what we have. There’s also a meeting Thursday night at 6 p.m. at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing on the Greater Lansing for Google effort.

To join the Sanchez effort, go to Facebook and search for “Twitter Storm/Facebook Rick Sanchez About GL4G.”
