The new Lansing City Market got a cherry on top Wednesday as officials announced that the Riverhouse Inn, a Williamston restaurant, would open a branch in the new structure.

Riverhouse proprietors Scott and Mandy Simmons have signed a five-year lease to occupy a space in the southwest corner of the market, which overlooks the Grand River. The restaurant will serve alcohol and a Tapas-style dinner, and Scott Simmons said that it would be open for breakfast as early as 6:30 a.m.

The announcement was made by Lansing Entertainment and Public Facilities CEO Scott Keith, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero, market manager John Hooper and the Simmons.

Keith also announced that vendors would not move into the new market until after the holidays to give vendors in the existing market a chance to stay open during the shopping season. Keith said construction on the new market would probably be over by next week. The new market was still being worked on during Wednesday’s press conference, though the walls have been painted and awnings have added to the exterior.

Keith said the new market will be open to the public for tours after construction is complete. Here are some pictures of the nearly complete market:
