Park District planning

Second of three charrettes on East Lansing’s Park District redevelopment scheduled for Wednesday

by City Pulse Staff

Tuesday, Oct. 15 — DTN Management, the local property management company behind the Park District redevelopment, is inviting the public to plan how its prominent East Lansing project should look.

Officials from DTN and East Lansing’s Department of Planning, Building and Development are hosting a charrette session from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University.

A press release bills this session (the second of three) as “the most important” and “the most in-depth” of the public meetings, as it “will guide the development of the East Lansing Park District.” The district is northwest of the prominent Abbot Road/Grand River Avenue intersection downtown.

Attendees will get to work in groups with architects and planners to brainstorm the general layout, transportation and public facility options for the site.

The first charrette in September reportedly drew about 50 participants to comment on the more than $100 million project.

RSVP for the event at ELParkDistrict.com.
