Friday, Sept. 6 — Besides the City Pulse-hosted free concert tonight at the Broad Art Museum in East Lansing, three weekend events will be keeping the warm weather celebration going just a little bit longer. Just bring a fleece … it still gets cold when the sun goes down.

4 p.m.-8 p.m. tonight: The Downtown Lansing 101 Student Welcome Back Event targets students from Cooley Law School, Davenport University, Lansing Community College and Michigan State University. It will take place on Washington Square & in the Stadium District. The event invites students to experience downtown Lansing’s cultureal scene, and will include street performers, student-only specials at downtown shops, restaurants, attractions, and nightlife hot spots, as well as contests and giveaways.

“With over 65,000 students living in and attending classes in the Lansing region, we hope that students will take advantage of this one-day opportunity to discover downtown Lansing … and see how vibrant the community is here,” said Mindy Biladeau, executive director of Downtown Lansing Inc. “There are a lot of opportunities and wonderful events available in Lansing that we need to expose students to, so we can capture their enthusiasm and talent, get them involved, and then keep them in our community long after they graduate.”

7 p.m. Saturday:

More than 30 electronic music artists will take part in the first-ever Boat Party, held at the Michigan Princess on the Grand River in Lansing. In addition to a full evening of eclectic music, there will be a magician, games, hookahs, a henna artist and water pong.

The Michigan Princess will depart twice, once at 10 p.m. and once at midnight, from 2995 W. Main St. in Lansing. Tickets are $10. For more information, go to xtheorycollab.com

7 p.m. Sunday:

The Waterfront Bar and Grill will host a screening party for “Sure Thing,” a short film by local filmmaker Michael McCallum. The event will also feature music by local rockers From Big Sur and a card trick demonstration.

The Waterfront Bar and Grill is in the Lansing City Market, 325 City Market Drive in Lansing. Admission is $5 at the door. For more information, go to rebelpictures.com.
