Wednesday, July 20 — Ice cream is a treat meant to be enjoyed by everyone — even our
four-legged friends. At Cones & Bones, they are welcome
customers, according to owner Jim Byrnes.
“We’re 99 percent dogs, but we’ve had our occasional cats,
birds and even a pot-bellied pig once,” he said.
Canines may not have many flavor choices at Cones & Bones — a simple vanilla is customarily served — but it can be mixed
with such extras as dog biscuits, bones and other specialty treats. The sundaes for dogs range in price from $1.85 to $3.90 (for the "Great Dane" size).
Human customers at Cones & Bones get a little more variety: The parlor offers at least 36 flavors in premium ice cream, including Banana Pudding, Majestic Milky Way, Last Mango in Paradise and Belgian Chocolate.
“Even though we sound quirky — and maybe we are — there is
no one like us in the country,” Byrnes said. “We’re simple and, on a product
level, we’re good.”
