'Phantom' and 'Slumber' open tonight at Mid-Michigan Family Theatre

Two one-acts feature ghosts and unexpected guests

by Fiona Guo

The one-act
plays “The Phantom of Pinchpenny Pond” by Cheryl Capshaw and “The Slumber Party”
by Claire Boiko open tonight at
Mid Michigan Family Theatre.

“Phantom,” presented by older teens, is about a
student named Harley who is assigned to write a short ghost story based on a
real-life experience. “Slumber” tells the story of an unexpected guest at young
Annie’s sleepover during a winter blizzard. “The actresses put a lot of energy
and a lot of fun into the show,” said director Bill Gordon of his young cast. “They
worked to make it as successful as they can.”

Performances are at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays,
and at 3 p.m. Sundays through June 26. Tickets can be reserved by emailing

MMFT holds
auditions for the musical “Go West!” Monday and Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The
show is based on the history of westward expansion in the early United States,
including the adventures of settlers going to the gold hills of California.

“We are looking
for teens — actors and actresses who are
enthusiastic, willing to
involve themselves and have fun
Gordon said.
