Grammy-winner Laurence Juber returns

The guitarist plays Creole Gallery Sunday

by City Pulse Staff

Thursday, May 19Although guitarist Laurence Juber has
toured the world with Paul McCartney and shared stages with The
Who’s Pete Townshend and Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, he's also perfectly comfortable in more intimate spaces, such as Old Town's Creole Gallery, which is where the Grammy winner will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 22.

“Being able to play in intimate
environments like the Creole Gallery is part of what fuels the
motivation,” Juber said, in an interview last year with City Pulse staff writer Lawrence Cosentino. “It’s so nice to have that kind of contained
energy, as opposed to playing for a larger audience at a bigger venue.”

The 58-year-old Juber also played an acoustic concert at the Creole Gallery last May. His CDs include "I've Got the World on Six Strings," "LJ Plays the Beatles" and "Naked Guitar." He won a Grammy for his work with Paul McCartney's 1970s project Wings, and earned a second Grammy in 2005 for best rock instrumental for his performance of "The Pink Panther Theme" on the Henry Mancini tribute "Pink Guitar."
