Monday, April 25 — The Lansing City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing and subsequent vote on waiving the city’s noise ordinance for the state Department of Transportation at tonight’s meeting.
The waiver would last through November and would allow MDOT to “mill and resurface” sections of Cedar and Larch streets between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Affected areas range from Jolly Road to the south to Lake Lansing Road to the north. The purpose behind scheduling upgrades at night is “to reduce the traffic congestion and increase worker safety.”
In budget business, the Council is scheduled to hold a “special presentation” on Mayor Virg Bernero’s proposed fiscal year 2012 budget. The question-and-answer session affords Council members the opportunity to ask the administration questions. Deputy Chief of Staff Randy Hannan said Bernero will not be at tonight’s meeting and that Finance Director Jerry Ambrose will field the questions.

One is on the city’s plan for spending Community Development Block Grant, HOME Program and Emergency Shelter grant funds for the upcoming fiscal year, while the other will consider granting a special land use permit to Dianne Lewis-Hartwell who wants to open a child daycare center at 3025 Cynwood St.
