After keeping downtown Lansing lunchgoers waiting nearly five months for something to gnaw on, the Wild Beaver Saloon is finally open for lunch. Nothing on the menu is over $10, which makes it expense -account-friendly for all the businessmen’s lunch meetings soon to be relocated here.
The menu includes a variety of traditional sandwiches (chicken, veggie, French dip), specialty salads (including the dynamo secret-recipe Bronzed Beaver Tilapia Salad ($8.95) and clever twists on pizza, here called, ahem, Beaver Pies.
To spice things up, the Sweet and Sassy Beaver Pie ($7.99) uses raspberry-jalapeno jelly, not pizza sauce, to hold down the cheese and toppings.
Hungry Beaver diners can also opt for half- or full-slab rib dinners with mango coleslaw, or the Beaver Dawg ($5.99), a whopping quarter-pound hot dog (add a buck for chili and cheese).
The Wild Beaver Saloon is located at 205 S. Washington Square in downtown Lansing. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday.
