The Ingham County Board of Commissioners was also expected to endorse recovery zone bonds Tuesday night for Lansing Township’s Eastwood Towne Center’s next project, dubbed Phase Two. The Downtown Development Authority intends to pursue $13.6 million in bonds for a 720-space parking building next to the NCG Cinema, a 42,000-to-64,000-square-foot commercial development and a two-story bridge over Preyde Boulevard.
The bridge will ultimately connect to Phase Three of the center, which did not get the county’s endorsement for bonds, said Steve Hayward, Lansing Township’s director of planning and development. Design work will begin on the $100 million third phase next week. It will include the 13 acres along Highway 127, and 60,000 square feet of commercial space, 275,000 square feet of office space, 180 hotel rooms and 30,000 square feet of conference space.
Hayward would not reveal potential clients but hinted the project will attract businesses from the west and east sides of the state.
“We’ll be bringing new money into the community. It’s like new ants at the picnic,” he joked
