Unless you’re dead, there is no such thing as a dreamless sleep. Everyone dreams (even if you think you don’t), often five to seven times each night. In fact, one-third of our lives is spent sleeping which amounts to approximately six years of dreaming. That is more than 2,100 days spent in the netherworld between the conscious and the unconscious mind.

Mild in the streets
Wandering through the streets of downtown Lansing these days is a bit like blundering into the wrong hotel room and surprising the occupant embracing an inflatable companion. First comes shock and embarrassment at having witnessed the unholy union; then a genuine laugh at the silliness of it all; and finally, a residue of queasy pity for any poor devil who has to order his pals out of a catalogue.

Adoption agencies question ruling in Holey custody case

New questions have risen in the custody case of Jennifer Holey’s two children.
Liliandra (21 months) and Pearl (9 months) were taken from the custody of their adoptive parents, Chadd and Tamera Smith of Dewitt, in April, and awarded by the Oakland County Probate Court to an Oakland County couple, who are their distant cousins.

Wharton Center’s director resigns after new season
William Wright, who as executive director built up the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts’ coffers by booking mainstream musicals and then used the money to commission original works, will resign at the end of the 2003-2004 season.
