Money doesn’t buy happiness, said Jim Sorenson, a freshman at Michigan State University. Although money was an important factor in his decision on which school to attend, money isn’t everything.
“I think you can be happy with or without money,” Sorenson, 18 of Okemos, said. “That’s really more important than anything you can achieve.”

PRO & CON: Affirmative Action
After the U.S. Supreme Court upheld affirmative action at the University of Michigan Law School, Californian Ward Connerly announced he would lead a ballot referendum effort in Michigan to ban state-mandated affirmative action. Connerly did so successfully in California and the state of Washington. Recently, Justin Jones, policy and planning director for Connerly’s organization, the American Civil Rights Coalition, and Ken Coleman, communications director of the Michigan Democratic Party, were interviewed by Berl Schwartz on “City Pulse on Exposure,” a weekly radio show at 7 p.m. Wednesdays on WDBM-FM (88.9).
