Moore’s film targets home state
“I grew up in Michigan. A gun lover’s paradise.”
This is the opening sentence of Michael Moore’s new film, “Bowling for Columbine,” which opened at Celebration! Cinema Friday. The Dog Eat Dog production questions why gun violence is a major issue in the country and in Moore’s home state.

Being gay… and proud… is ‘entire life’
Bob Egan has been a leader of the gay community in Lansing since the early 1990s when he and others began working toward a gay rights ordinance. City Council approved the ordinance, but the voters rejected it in a referendum in 1996. Egan, 47, will leave Lansing soon to begin his own business in Palm Springs, Calif. Egan’s hallmark has been his willingness to be openly gay as his way of fighting homophobia and also as a way of putting behind him the 27 years he spent in the closet.
