life in lansing - past and present

The stage was set. After hours of music
from a whos who of local talent as well as a few out-of-town favorites,
the moment the crowd was waiting for had arrived. The riverfront audience,
which earlier in the afternoon had consisted of a small band of dedicated
supporters and a few neighborhood locals who came out to see what the
ruckus was about, had evolved into a throng of human energy, all attention
focused to a single point on a semi-trailer stage. A mist the
byproduct of hundreds of bodies breathing, sweating, dancing in the
September evening chill hung above the crowd. The x-factor, that
intangible factor that defines any gathering (the vibe), was good.

On issues, Bernero a liberal, DeWeese a surpriser
Lansing
insiders see the 23rd District Senate race as pitting a free-thinking
Republican moderate against a tried-and-true liberal Democrat. The Democratic
nominee, Rep. Virg Bernero (Lansing), disagrees with part of this characterization
and, interestingly, its not the liberal Democrat part.
